So looks like we have him until Jan then, maybe the entire season. Sounds like a blessing!

EXCLUSIVE: The FA grant West Ham's request to postpone Lucas Paqueta's formal interview over potential betting breaches... after the midfielder's £85m move to Man City collapsed amid the probe
By Sami Mokbel for MailOnline
West Ham have had a request to postpone Lucas Paqueta’s formal interview with the Football Association over allegations he breached betting rules granted by the governing body.
Mail Sport has learned that Paqueta and West Ham were informed in writing of the investigation, believed to be in connection with suspicious betting patterns linked to bookings, at the middle of last week.
The FA advised that they wanted to interview Paqueta on Monday, with the player understood to be happy to attend.
However, the Hammers immediately applied for Monday’s scheduled meeting to be delayed, a request that has been accepted by the FA.
There is some concern at West Ham over the processes linked to the FA investigation, which is being played out publicly without any formal acknowledgement from the FA.
The postponement application allows the club and player more time to understand what lies ahead with regards to the probe.
No date has yet been set for Paqueta’s interview, but his omission from the most recent Brazil squad due to the allegations means the next international break could arrive as an appropriate time for the player to speak to the FA.
Meanwhile, it can also be revealed that West Ham had agreed a deal in-principle with Manchester City to sell Paqueta for £85million before the transfer collapsed as a result of the FA investigation.
Mail Sport exclusively revealed on Friday that Paqueta was subject of the probe, effectively causing his protracted move to the Etihad to stall.
And we understand that agreement, in principle, was struck between the Hammers and City for Paqueta to leave only for the deal to break down as a result of the FA investigation.
The break down of the deal comes as a major financial blow to West Ham and Paqueta.
The Hammers were due to bank in the region of £85million while Paqueta was in line to receive a significant pay rise.

make you right Russ. There is more on this too than just a footballer getting banned.
Matchfixing could seem him get a custodial sentence I believe (and spot fixing in football is classed as match fixing).
As you say, have to just hope there is nothing incriminating like Whatsapp messages, taped phone calls, emails etc, and it all becomes he-said she-said.
Is there any understanding of the links to the other player and back to Paqueta island? Have they ever played together of there is any kind of relationship there...the links to Lucas are obvious, but the links to the other player seem a bit random from the outside looking in.

I feel this is all too circumstantial to charge him. Unless of course they have solid evidence naming him or from phone conversation / text or e-mail. However, i would very much that they do have that. So it goes back to being circumstantial, and if so, he is nowhere near bang to rights.
Without hard evidence I would suggest any questioning would go along the lines of:
Investigator: Do you know any of the people that opened up betting accounts and bet on you getting booked?
Paq: Yes.
Investigator: Did you know they were opening these accounts and betting on you getting booked?
Paq: No.
Investigator: Did you know that these bets were married to another player also getting booked?
Paq: No.
Investigator: Did any of these people ask or order you to get booked the game being discussed?
Paq: No.
Investigator: Did you deliberately get booked and knowingly do so in order for this bet to win?
Paq: No.
So where do they go from there? Call him a liar? Tell him he did know and charge and ban him anyway? They need hard, concrete evidence implicating him and if they don't have that then they won't get a charge as you cannot charge someone based on circumstance.
If they do have concrete evidence then he is fucked. But from what I have read they don't.

What you mean which one is it? I clearly think he has done it, in fact seems pretty obvious from what i've read ..... just hope the FA can't get any incriminating evidence together

He has obviously got caught up in some match fixing. People in Paqueta village lump on him to get booked and he gets a dodgy booking
He is banged to rights in this, fucking stupid.......will get a lengthy ban.
Just hope the FA can't prove it, one of them where we all know whats gone on you just can't prove factually that it happened.
Fucking agg that Betway grassed on us though.....only at West Ham!

Gary Strodders shank 2:09 Mon Aug 21 Re: Lucas Paqueta is being investigated by the FA for potential betting breaches If betting firms are still going to price up markets for cards throw ins and god knows what else then there is always going to be problems. It happens at lower level football all the time and is nothing new. Paul Kitson was caught up in controversy 20 years back when he went from touch from kick off.
Was at the game (Cantonas last one??) ... everyone just looked at each other and thought what the fuck when Kitson belted into row Z??

When I heard that there was a West Ham player allegedly involved in a betting scandal, my first thought was Scam Acca? Turns out that’s exactly what it was about.

It happens at lower level football all the time and is nothing new. Paul Kitson was caught up in controversy 20 years back when he went from touch from kick off. The easy way to eradicate the temptation is to remove these markets but the bookies want us to bet on anything and everything in a game and the football authorities don't want to tell them to do it because of the revenue they bring in through sponsorship.

Not guilty. Unless the last bet was scoring a last minute pen and getting a yellow card

To be far if I was going to place a bet on Paqueta getting booked it would be when he was facing McGinni , I’ll probably would have put money on both of them. The odds must have been very low. But then I used to bet on Dicks getting booked every game . Problem is the club can’t really say to much as thy are sponsored by the same betting company.

So our own sponsor and chairman concoct a story to prevent Paqueta leaving and the chairman's mouthpiece is on it too. Wicked. Gets proven not guilty cos u can't be found guilty on hearsay and there are no funds ever leaving or entering his account. We keep the player and he thanks us for protecting him by playing out of his skin and we also all then realise exwhuh is a chairman puppet and gets the grief he has deseved for many years. Win win win in my book.

Which, by extension of logic prompts a couple of questions If the bloke is bang to rights then why did we not cut our losses or, is the charge unlikely to stick, so we dug in City are unlikely to piss another £60m up the wall after the (legally non) rapist farrago has and will cost them From which I conclude, based on City’s interest alone, that he has a fair chance of a scarper Not withstanding his chances would be doubtless improved with their briefs than Bodgit and Hopit who councilled our Tevez defence

ludo Given it was posted on here before the very public posture from City I’d suggest they, West Ham and the player were fully aware and as I’ve said before, it explains their £60m low ball shot Unless of course you propose that no one knew bar us shitkickers on here?

Because we might have been able to sell him and the problem for 85m quid?
Ex knows fuck all, but he's brilliant at reporting stuff already in the public domain, the squeaky fucking nonce.

If Ex knew (which he has said he did) then why didn’t the club just knock the Man City interest on the head straight away by saying Paqueta is not for sale and have a word with Paqueta to say there is no way you can move with this hanging over you…. did they all really think the transfer could take place with no consequences? How stupid must they be?
Now it has all blown up and will cast a public shadow over Paqueta and the club for many months.

If he plays tomorrow he could be not guilty or guilty.
If he doesn’t play tomorrow he’s probably guilty, but could be not guilty.
Or he might be injured.
